First of all, I must say that I do not possess any information which is not already public knowledge. However, I have been following news of the new sodomy allegation against Anwar closely and I’m analysing this from the perspective of ‘reasonable behaviour’ and ‘balance of probability.’ Here are the reasons why I think Anwar is not guilty.

Debat: Sampai Berbueh Mulut Shaberry-dipetik dari MSO
TEPAT seperti mana kata Presiden Pas, Abdul Hadi Awang debat antara Penasihat PKR, Anwar Ibrahim dengan Menteri Penerangan, Ahmad Shaberry Chik tidak sepadan. Kata Abdul Hadi semasa saya meziarahinya di IJN pagi tadi Anwar sepatutnya tidak layan Shaberry, beliau sepatutnya berdebat dengan Perdana Menteri ataupun Timbalan Perdana Menteri, baru padan kata Abdul Hadi.
Sepanjang kira-kira 50 minit perdebatan antara kedua mereka tadi ternyata tidak membawa penyelesaian kepada masalah ekonomi negara hari ini. Ia tidak memberi apa-apa kesan kepada rakyat atau memberi tip untuk melegakan rakyat ekoran kenaikan harga minyak tertinggi di dunia. Debat itu walaupun nampak ilmiah tetapi ia lebih kepada hiburan dalam sitkom Senerio.
Formula yang diharap akan dibentangkan Anwar untuk menurunkan harga minyak dan diharap akan digunapakai oleh kerajaan juga kabur. Anwar tidak memperincikan formulanya. Mungkin itu adalah rahsianya yang akan dikemukakan selepas Pakatan Rakyat membentuk kerajaan 16 September depan.
Bagaimana pun perdebatan itu memberi keuntungan kepada kedua tokoh berkenaan. Ia mempopularkan mereka. Anwar yang sudah popular menjadi semakin popular dan penampilan tadi juga menaikkan saham dirinya yang agak mendung sehari dua ini. Dengan bersedia memenuhi janjinya (hadir berdebat) walaupun dalam keadaan dirinya ditimpa musibah menjadikan orang yakin kepadanya.
Seperti dikatakan tadi walaupun ia tidak memberi banyak faedah, tetapi perdebatan tadi menyeronokkan. Pastinya ia lebih bermanfaat dari rancangan Akademi Fantasi atau pun Jom Heboh. Bagi Shaberry dapat berganding dengan Anwar atas pentas satu tuah sepertilah orang kampung dapat bergambar dengan artis yang hadir di tempat kenduri. Kesempatan itu diambil sebaik mungkin untuk Shaberry meletakkan dirinya sebagai hebat dan akan dijaja kepada orang kampungnya di Kemaman, Terengganu.
Begitu juga, saya percaya penyokong Anwar dan Pakatan Rakyat yang rindu untuk menatap wajah Anwar di skrin televisyen terubat. Sejak dipecat dari Umno 10 tahun lalu itulah tempoh terlama Anwar muncul di kaca tv dan secara langsung.
Jelas sekali pada semua pusingan Shaberry tewas dalam perdebatan tadi. Ada kalanya beliau terpaksa mengungkitkan soal peribadi Anwar yang terkeluar daripada mauduk perbahasan untuk menyelamatkan dirinya. Apabila beliau membangkitkan soal peribadi Anwar, menyebabkan beliau menerima tepukan daripada penyokongnya dan menjadikan beliau seolah-olah setanding dengan Anwar yang terus mendapat tepukan, termasuk dari penyokong Shaberry sendiri.
Bagaimana pun sekalung tahniah perlu dihulurkan kepada Shaberry. Walaupun sampai berbueh mulutnya untuk mematahkan hujah Anwar dan mempertahkan tindakan Perdana Menteri dan bosnya Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yang menaikkan harga minyak, namun beliau mampu juga memberanikan dirinya. Kesanggupan itu satu kehebatan Shaberry sebenarnya.
Ternyata baik dari segi umur, pengalaman, hubungan kemanusiaan dan cara berhujah Anwar jauh lebih matang dan bijak berbanding dengan Shabrry. Anwar tidak menjawab hal peribadi yang dilemparkan Shaberry berkali-kali kepadanya. Dan Anwar juga menunjukkan semangat profesional dan bukan emosi berbanding Shaberry yang nampak ego dan besar diri kerana jawatannya itu.
Shaberry merujuk Anwar sebagai sdr, sebaliknya Anwar merendahkan diri dengan memanggil Shaberry Datuk Shaberry. Di akhir perdebatan Anwar yang melangkah berjabat salam dengan Shaberry yang terkaku di rostrumnya kerana masih teruja dengan apa yang berlaku. Dari segi bintang perdebatan tadi Anwar bolehlah diberi enam bintang (******) manakala Shaberry hanya dua (**) saja.

Najib will never become PM, says Dr M
The Malaysian Insider - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who turned 83 today, dropped a bombshell — he predicted that Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will never allow his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Razak to take over as Prime Minister.
Writing in his blog chedet.com, the former premier did not mince his words when putting forth his theory.
Dr Mahathir said that although Abdullah promises that Najib would succeed him by 2010, allegations would be hurled against the deputy prime minister before then to show up his inability to take over.
The Malaysian Insider had reported earlier that Abdullah would announce his decision to relinquish his post in June 2010.
"Somebody who is deemed more loyal to Datuk Seri Abdullah will replace him (Najib). The replacement candidate will not take over the prime minister's post in 2010 because he lacks experience. Datuk Seri Abdullah will then hang on to his post until the 13th General Election.
"If the people's current trend of thinking continues (until the next general election), Barisan Nasional will lose the elections and Datuk Seri Abdullah will no longer be the prime minister. Therefore, there will be nothing for Datuk Seri Najib to take over from," said Dr Mahathir in his blog.
The former prime minister also accused Abdullah of not practising what he preaches; in particular, not adhering to his own directive to Umno.
"Campaigning for party elections is not allowed but the party president can bring all division leaders together and tell them not to challenge him for the president's post," he added.
He also said that Abdullah would assure Najib that there would be no challenges for his job. "If Muhyiddin insists on contesting, he will be seen as disloyal to the party and deemed a traitor because he does not respect the president's ‘democratic’ directive," he said.
This tradition of not challenging the top leaders began after the debacle in 1987 that ended with Umno being deregistered following a challenge by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah against Dr Mahathir. The next year, Umno in the form of Umno Baru was registered.

Was Bala’s second declaration made under duress? -Aliran
Aliran views private investigator P Balasubramaniam’s two contradictory statutory declarations with shock and concern. It is difficult to believe that he could have retracted his earlier statutory declaration dated July 1, which implicates and condemns the Deputy Prime Minister’s involvement with Altantuya Shaaribuu, within a matter of three days. His latest statutory declaration dated July 4 retracts every thing that he had solemnly sworn “consciously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of the Statutory Declaration Act 1960.”

Yes, this looks bad for Najib, as well as for Anwar. And it certainly looks like Najib is behind the second SD as well as the sodomy allegation against Anwar -- while Anwar, in turn, is seen as behind the first SD that links Najib to Altantuya.
I said in an earlier article in this same column that Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should be out of office by Christmas. And his successor, I predicted, could either be Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, aspirant Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, or opposition head honcho Anwar Ibrahim. I have also always said that seven days is a long time in politics. What more seven months. And the fact that political fortunes change, subject to both internal as well as external factors beyond your control, means that the situation is always very fluid indeed.

Siapa Menteri Jumpa Anwar di Singapura?
SEBUAH berita yang masih terbungkus dan menjadi misteri, seorang menteri Kabinet telah menemui Anwar Ibrahim di Singapura beberapa minggu lepas.Apa yang dibincangkan tidak diketahui tetapi pertemuan antara kedua mereka yang merupakah sahabat baik tentu ada rahsia tersendiri.
Anwar telah pun mendedahkan pertemuan berkenaan tetapi tidak menyebut secara jelas.Anwar hanya membayangkan seorang menteri Kabinet dan ramai yang mempunyai telahan ianya adalah dari MCA.Tidak! Menteri yang dikatakan menemui Anwar itu bukan dari MCA tetapi dari Umno.
